Dancer, teacher & Tango DJ

Jory Raimo started dancing at a young age. As a breakdancer, he developed to a high level and performed on stage in various shows. Through his sister Lorena, he discovered the Argentine tango. His passion for this dance grew quickly, and within a year, Jory left for Buenos Aires to immerse himself in the tango with renowned maestros from the international tango world.

His background in breakdancing provides a unique foundation for his tango. Body control, dynamics, musicality and freedom of movement come together in him with the elegance, technique and connection of Argentine tango.

Alongside his development as a dancer, Jory has built up a huge love and knowledge of tango music. He knows the various orchestras, styles and eras, and as a Tango DJ he knows how to create precisely the right atmosphere on the dance floor. He has since become a much sought-after and popular Tango DJ.

Lecturer

As a teacher, Jory is known for his pedagogical skills, musicality, technique, speed, elegance and playfulness. He knows how to convey technique in a clear and accessible way and pays great attention to personal guidance.

His classes focus not only on technique and movement, but above all on musicality, improvisation and the connection between dance partners. With his energetic and playful way of teaching, he ensures that students develop while enjoying dancing.

Lorena & Jory

Together with his sister Lorena, Jory forms an exceptional tango couple. Their partnership began on the dance floor and grew into a professional collaboration in which they complement each other perfectly, both artistically and organisationally.

In June 2015 they took part in the UK European Championship Argentine Tango in the categories Tango Stage and Tango Salon. They became UK European Champions Tango Stage 2015 and achieved second place in Tango Salon.

In 2016, 2017 and 2018 they once again achieved second place at the Tango Salon in the United Kingdom. In 2018 they became European Champions Tango de Pista in Germany. That year they also reached the semi-finals of the Tango World Championship in Buenos Aires.

Their collaboration is not limited to performances. During lessons, workshops, events and international tango activities, Lorena and Jory complement each other excellently. Their combination of experience, professionalism, humour and passion is highly appreciated by students and organisations.

On stage they perform a spectacular, elegant and musical tango. In class they convey that same passion and energy to their students.

Jory combines his love of dance and music with a strong technical foundation and a playful, personal approach to teaching. For him, tango is about feeling the music, making a connection and enjoying the dance together.
